Spirit of East Harlem


Located on 104th Street and Lexington Avenue, El Barrio NYC


This towering mural, homage to the neighborhood as it was in the 1970's, is made up of loving portraits of residents set in a landscape of high rises. Artist Hank Prussing created the mural in 1978, and it was later restored by artist Manny Vega as a celebration of the long-standing and Latino influenced tradition of murals.
